Common questions

What should I expect from generated images and animations?

GenTap uses PixelLab’s AI models to generate artwork. Results depend on your inputs and settings and can differ between runs. Likeness and fine details may change, and animations can contain inconsistent shapes, outlines or movement. Some results may need another attempt or manual cleanup.

The examples on this site are selected results. Features marked Experimental have been tested with a limited range of inputs. For example, Star in a GIF has been reviewed with simple movement; complex actions and interactions have not yet been broadly tested.

PixelLab generation is billed separately. A completed generation can consume allowance or credits even if you choose not to use the result, and another attempt can consume more. If a problem keeps occurring, let us know so we can investigate.

Does this run in my browser?

No. Install the plugin in Stream Deck on your computer. PixelLab generates the artwork using your account; the finished files are saved to your chosen folder.

Do I need a photo of myself?

No. You can start with a text description, existing artwork, a GIF or a saved character. Personal-photo recipes are optional features.

Which Stream Deck can I use?

Stream Deck Neo is supported. Other Stream Deck models are available experimentally; compatibility is not guaranteed. GenTap uses standard key actions. Requires Windows 10+ or macOS 13+, with Stream Deck software 7.1 or later. Dial, touch-strip and Infobar controls are not included.

Is PixelLab usage included?

No. You connect your own PixelLab account. PixelLab charges for generation separately, according to your plan.

Which operating systems are supported?

GenTap supports Windows 10 or later and macOS 13 or later. Stream Deck software 7.1 or later is required. See the requirements for device and software compatibility.

Where is my API key stored?

On your computer, in protected local credential storage: Windows DPAPI on Windows and Keychain on macOS. The plugin does not save your key in ordinary Stream Deck action settings.

Does Stop cancel the PixelLab job?

It stops local processing where possible. PixelLab may continue work it has already accepted. Do not assume a stop refunds or prevents provider usage.

Can a generation record reproduce the exact result?

It saves the prompt, settings and available seed for reference. Keep your original inputs too. PixelLab results can vary, and records cannot currently be imported to rerun a workflow.

Was this artwork made with PixelLab?

The guided examples show actual exports from the app. Human source pictures are fictional and AI-generated; the other source artwork was created with PixelLab. The forest and feature icons come from PixelLab. The text-to-image reveal is edited for presentation and does not show generation speed.

Are the SDK packages available to install?

Versioned package archives and installation instructions are available on the developer page. Public registry publication is separate from these downloads and from the plugin release.

Before trying again

In the Stream Deck app, click the configured key to open its settings panel below the key layout.

  • Run status and errors: look near the top of that panel. A queued or processing job may still be working. If an error appears, click Show details for the reported reason.
  • Saved images: look for Saved: and click its filename to open the containing folder. You can also open the folder you selected under Output → Output folder. A saved file may exist even if a later preview step failed.
  • Saved characters: select your Character Library key, open Saved characters and click Refresh list. Use the Saved character dropdown to inspect the catalogue. A character may have been created even if a later export failed.
  • Account access: open Setup and use Check access. Read any reported size, frame-count or plan limit before changing your request.
  • Output location: check Output → Output folder. Choose an existing folder that you can write to.

Repeating a generation can consume more usage. If the outcome is uncertain, keep the displayed status or error and contact support before starting it again.

Reporting a problem

Include the plugin version, Stream Deck software version, device model, operating system, action name, steps to reproduce, expected result and the error shown.

For an output-quality issue, describe what differs from the requested result. Share an example only if you are comfortable disclosing its contents. Review prompts and recipe files before sending them.
