Get GenTap
GenTap is coming soon to Elgato Marketplace for Stream Deck on Windows and macOS.
Choose from six configurable actions, including nine guided recipes for animations, characters, scenes and comics.
After release, install GenTap by Rascallop from its Marketplace listing, then follow the setup steps below.
Requirements
- A Stream Deck, Stream Deck software 7.1 or later, and Windows 10+ or macOS 13+. Assign an action to a key and configure it in Stream Deck.
- Your own PixelLab account and API key. Your PixelLab plan determines which generation tools you can use and how much you can generate.
- An internet connection for PixelLab operations.
- A local output folder where the plugin can save images, animations and optional generation records.
A PixelLab subscription is not included with the plugin. PixelLab bills generation usage separately.

Make your first image
This walkthrough is for Create Image on Windows or macOS, once the plugin is installed. You will copy a short prompt, generate a 128 × 128 image and find the saved file.
Add the action and open its settings
Open the Stream Deck app. Find Create Image in the action list and drag it onto a key. Click that key in the app. Its settings appear below the key layout; Stream Deck calls this panel the Property Inspector.
Keep the key selected so you can follow its status during the run.
Connect your PixelLab account
Sign in to your PixelLab account page to find your API key. In the plugin's Setup section, paste it into PixelLab API key and click Save key. Use Check access to check the connection and your account access.
Tick “I understand clipboard content will be sent to PixelLab when I press the key.” This allows the plugin to send the copied prompt or image for the operation you run.
Generation uses your PixelLab allowance and is billed separately from the plugin. Available generators depend on your plan.
Choose the image and output settings
In Prompt and generator → 1. Build prompt, enable Review and edit prompt before generating. In 2. Generate image, choose Square · 128 × 128 under Image size. Choose a Generator available to your PixelLab plan.
Open Output. Next to Output folder, click Browse and choose a folder on your computer.

Copy a prompt, then press the key
Select and copy this text with Ctrl+C on Windows or Command+C on macOS:
A small stone cottage beside a pine tree, warm light in the windows, dusk, pixel art. No text.
Press the configured key on your Stream Deck. Review the prompt in the dialog and confirm it to generate the image. Follow the progress near the top of the settings panel.
Create Image reads your clipboard. If you copy an image instead, the plugin describes that image and uses the description to generate a new one.
Find the saved result
When the run finishes, look for Saved: in the settings panel. Click the filename to open its containing folder, then open the image.
Expected result: a 128 × 128 image of a cottage beside a tree, saved in the folder you selected. The exact artwork varies with the generator and settings.
If an error appears, use Show details in the same panel. See where to check before trying again.
The key retains its settings for next time. Copy another prompt and press it again to make a new image.
Outputs and cancellation
Images and animations are saved locally. Available output formats depend on the selected action: a still image, a GIF, individual frames, rotations, or a character spritesheet.
Keep a record of your settings. Save the prompt, settings and available seed alongside the result. Keep your original source files too. These records are for reference and cannot be imported to rerun a workflow.
Stop a run. Press the key again or use Stop run where offered. This stops processing on your computer. PixelLab may still finish and charge for generation work it has already started.
